A natural wonder is a type of creation made by God which is truly awesome, one of my favorite natural wonder is Chir Batti in Gujarat.

Chir Batti is a ghost light reported in the Banni grasslands, seasonal marshy wetlands as well as the desert of Rann of Kutch. Local villagers refer to the light as Chir-Batti in the Kutchhhi language with Chir meaning ghosts and batti meaning light.

At the night this light occurs as bright as a mercury lamp and changes colors to red, yellow and blue. Its speed is fast and it stops also. According to the local tales, it has been a part of their life. Some people say the light appears after 8 p.m. on dark nights. The BSF who patrol the border area of India-Pakistan of Rann of Kutch has observed it. It supports at least 37 species of grasses, 275 species of birds, 190 species of plants and several species of mammals and reptiles.

According to the scientific theory it is caused due to oxidation of phosphine(PH3), diphosphate(P2H4) and Methane(CH4). These chemicals produce organic decay and create photon emissions. There are also some other locations in the world where such a phenomenon has occurred. Chir Batti or Ghost Lights are also called Friar's LanternorWill-O'-The-Wisp.

Why does this event happen?

As per eyewitnesses, this phenomena refers to resembling a moving ball of fire. It is not just one light but could appear in several places. The light has also been observed to becomes two from one. As per local folklore, these lights have been a part of the life of Banni grasslands and the adjoining Rann of Kutch for centuries, but unfortunately, as not well known beyond the immediate area this phenomena has not yet been studied for scientific explanations and people continue calling these strange light occurrences as ghost lights. It is reported that these lights are always 2-feet above the ground to about 8- to 10-feet in the air and no record exists of them having ever harmed anyone so far except that if followed in the middle of a dark night one could be misled from the road and lose their way in thorny jungles or desert of the salt flats of the Rann. It was first declared a "Protected Forest" in May 1955, using the nomenclature of the Indian Forest Act, 1927. Since then, the actual transfer of the land from the Revenue department to the Forest department has not been completed.
