Hello there! It’s me, Siyona Sachith from 5-A. How are you all? We all know that plastic is the worse thing on Mother Earth, especially for water bottles. But today we don’t even have to worry about that, as the technology has upgraded we have every interesting & satisfying invention that will blow up your mind. It's Ooho, The Water Bubbles.
The prototype named Ooho! was created in 2014 in London by a group of design students. Soon after, Rodrigo Garcia González & Pierre-Yves Paslier co-founded Skipping Rocks Lab. The startup company quickly raised funds & started improving the properties of the material at Imperial College London. It encircles drinking water within an edible membrane made from a natural seaweed extract. If you don’t feel like eating it, the flexible bubble-like packaging biodegrades in just 4-6 weeks, the same time as a piece of fruit. The membrane can be flavoured and coloured, & can also be used for other liquids such as soft drinks, spirits & cosmetics. Ooho is still in it’s very early days, which means that it’s currently only available at certain events across the globe. So far, the edible water pods have been distributed in London, San Francisco & Boston, making appearances at conferences, private functions, festivals, & pop-up stores.
