Effect Of Social Media In Our Daily Life

Hello Friends,
Welcome to my Blog No. 40
Isn’t it ironical that we are discussing about “Effect of Social Media in our daily life” through a blog!
I am doubtful if there is any person who is connected to a Smartphone who would disagree that the way of electronic space has changed forever.
Earlier to read news or keep ourselves updated with the latest in the world we were entirely dependent on Radio, Television, Newspapers, Magazines and Journals. TODAY, a swipe of the screen or click/tap of a button can not only get the news right to you on your mobile or computer screen but also allow you to interact with people of same interests and discuss on the news. Websites and Mobile Apps like YouTube, Twitter, Blogs, Quora, Reddit and the list is endless.
Gone are the days or Telephone/Mobile calls, SMSs, Emails, Postal Letters, connecting to a laptop for Gtalk or Skype messenger (both users registered and logged in). TODAY a “green talk icon” on the phone can virtually bring the person to you over a Video Call. WhatsApp has redefined the way people communicate.
An anecdote: Recently when there was a discussion about WhatsApp being unavailable from Feb 8th due to some privacy issue. People actually were worried about how would they communicate if WhatsApp locks them away.
Earlier if you had to share your experiences or response to some event or incident with larger group including strangers – either you had to be in the news media or must write books. TODAY, a personal blog and a social media handle on various community websites or Twitter, Facebook kind of apps are sufficient to share with a very large audience.
Would you believe if someone said creating a random video of cooking with a weird background song would fetch you lakhs of followers and fans? Today we have YouTube, Dailymotion, Mitron not only you can gain followers and fans but also millions like many have already done and each day there is a new STAR being made out of these channels.
I hope you will agree that Social Media has become part of our life – not only the way we live but it also sets the benchmark and aspirations for us.
