Truth Will Set You Free

Today we live in such a world where truth has lost its meaning and value. People are afraid to live a truthful life due to various reasons, such as losing the wealth, possession, power, friendship, relationship, family, etc. They feel that they will be kept aloof from the family, society, political life and even social life. Even though we live in a democratic country I would say that we have lost the freedom of speech. For ex: The 21 year old Disha who was picked up from her home in Bangluru and kept behind the bars. Let’s see what makes us to be insincere.
I feel the following are the few factors that make us to be insincere:
Fear: Fear of losing power, wealth, love, possession, people, etc. are the most important factors. When I am afraid that I will lose my wealth, the people whom I love, my possession, I always try my best to protect them by being insincere. When fear is leading me I am covering my real self and I try to be someone else. As long as I cover myself I am afraid that someday someone will find out who I am really is. Until then I am living a fearful life. This is what, is happening with an individual, institutions, among political parties, etc. This leads to corruption.
Greed: Greed is another factor that leads us to be insincere. In our day to day lives when we look, we find the poor becomes poorer and the rich becomes richer. The poor and the rich are not content with what they have. As a result, they end up in fighting, killing, cheating, looting, giving false witness, etc. This is what happening all over the world today. Truth is no more experienced in today’s world. We forget the saying “The truth will set you free”.
Parents should be great examples of truthfulness, to witness truth and speak truth, because a child learns to be truthful from his parents.
