Hi guys, I hope you all are fine. So today we are going to talk about one of the powerful king of ancient history. But do you know who is he ? I think most of you know the answer. He is Samudra gupta. So now let's talk about him.


Samudragupta was one of the greatest rulers in the Indian History. He ascended the throne after the death of his father , Chandragupata 1. Samudragupta was not just an excellent military commander but was also a great patron of art and literature. Samudragupta followed a policy of conquest and expansion and also assumed the title of Maharajadhiraja like his father. let us understand about his military conquests-

1- In North India, he conquered Aryavarta or the land of the Aryans ( that included parts of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi). There were nine rulers who were uprooted and made a part of the Gupta Empire.
2- He also led a successful expedition to the Deccan. In ancient South India, there were twelve rulers. These rulers surrendered to Samudragupta after being defeated by him. However, he did not annex these territories since he realised that they would be difficult to control the absence of transport and communication facilities from his capital. Instead, these kingdoms paid handsome tributaries.
3- The states in western and eastern India like Assam, Rajasthan etc. succumbed to the power of Samudragupta. They paid heavy tributaries and also followed the orders of Samudragupta.
4- His prestige and influenced also spread outside India. For Example- The rulers of Srilanka succumbed to him and also offered their daughters in matrimony.

Can anyone of you have a guess that what are we going to do today? ok let tell today we are going to share our new year promise / resolution.
